This small moon jar has been decorated with a blue underglaze, with highlights of gold to mimic the sea foam on the crest of a wave.

Moon jars were historically made in Korea out of porcelain, thrown in two pieces and used to decorate the Imperial Court or homes of noblity.

Their curvy shape is often associated with fertility and women; i find it a very pleasing and beautiful shape.

It measures around 11cm tall and is 10cm wide; it could be used to show off flowers or to be appreciated for its beauty.
