Art trade prompts shelf re-shuffle
I think I am way overdue with my #urbanjunglebloggers plant shelfie post, but I wanted to share a little about a recent art trade that I did with a talented artist who lives all the way over in Florida, which from Birmingham in the UK is a looong distance.
For people who don't know me, I have been selling my ceramics for just over two years, so still fledgling in a lot of respects, but am also a big fan of plants and nature.
A while back I got interested in the work of Jenny Kiker from @livingpattern , who paints nature inspired images of plants, succulents, birds, shells and much, much more. I was instantly drawn to her fresh, original style, but was disappointed as her work was always sold out. When I contacted Jenny about purchasing some work, I was over the moon when she suggested a trade as she had seen my work and loved my little planters.
So, we made the most happy art-trade. And of course, I had to tidy up my shelves in the studio at the same time.
Also 'hanging out' in the studio is my oh-so-sweet string-of-hearts, or Ceropegis linearis which is totally thriving. And joins a cute range of succulents and the cutest air-plant which turned purple and came into flower just two weeks after I bought it. These plant buddies are sitting pretty in some of my ceramic vessels which will soon be turned into hanging planters. Ooh and a little planter from local plant experts of living creations, @MarimoAdrift just sneaks into this image too.
It was so lovely as Jenny sent me a picture of my planters in her studio, and it turns out that we have even more in common than just plants as she collects sea-treasures, sponges, stones and even skeletons.
Her studio is so tidy! And here, I will let you into a little secret; my shelfie in the earier shots is only a small part of the picture... There's all sorts of mess going on.
Before I go, I also wanted to share another of Jenny's amazing art-works, as she knows I am a fan of ferns. What an amazingly kind and wonderful person!
I hope you enjoyed this #urbanjunglerbloggers post. If you are a plant fan, you should definitely check out the Urban Jungle Bloggers website which celebrates greenery in our lives and is championed by Igor and Judith, who have worked hard to create a lovely community of plant-lovers.
See you next time for more green magic....
