Some behind-the-scenes inspiration
I must admit it feels a bit weird talking about the sea-side in November, especially since I couldn't live further from the sea in Birmingham, but after four months of preparation I can finally unveil the 'Daddy' of my coast-line collection.
The sea erodes rocks... the crest of a wave explodes in a mass of bubbles... a shell with a mother-of-pearl finish... a delicate and fragile sea-urchin.... To name a few of my inspirations.
So, here is my new 'sea-foam' porcelain vase 'before' and 'after' ....
Other sea-inspired 'treasures' from this collection will all be on display at the Woodbridge Gallery, as part of the 'Fired-Up' exhibition, with fellow Midland Potters, in Moseley (B13 8EJ) from November 22-29.
If you live local do pop into the gallery when the exhibition is on and let me know what you think.
Hi! I'm a ceramicist, based in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Combining beauty and function my porcelain vessels are everyday objects you'll want to treasure. My work is slip-cast and wheel-thrown.
